Bio

Kiranjot Kaur is a Vocalist, founding member of Copper Wimmin, Kundalini Yoga teacher, Indian Classical music teacher and a devotee of the Divine Mother.

Copper Wimmin were featured on NPR program Democracy Now and their song Bleeding Rivers was featured on the Showtime television series The L Word.

In 2006 Kiranjot refocused her career around classical Indian music and spent five years living and studying under the guidance of her beloved teacher Dr. Ustad Narindar Singh in Amritsar, India. From her travels through India to Chile and back she discovered that her favorite thing in this world is using her voice as a call for revolutionary self-love and healing.

No longer interested in performance where the audience is separate from the performer, Kiranjot invites the audience at all her events to be transformed by the healing power of their own voice as well as the practice of singing together as ONE.

SING US ALIVE: Becoming instruments of the Divine Mother

I believe that EVERYONE can sing and that we are each designed as divine instruments! In Indian Classical music practice we surrender to the practice, to music Herself. It is a practice of letting go of who we think we are and any limitations we believe we may have.

It is an exercise of becoming present and allowing music to move through like breath through a flute. We can gently allow each note to brush the strings of our heart’s instrument and become the voice of our soul.

This vocal practice works on breath support, intonation, vocal range, dexterity and tone, note recognition, projection and presence.

This class is open to ALL no experience needed!. My teacher, Dr.Ustad Narinder Singh Sandhu, taught me that:

“You do not need to know anything about music to sing.
You do not need to have a beautiful voice or talent to sing.
The only thing that you need is love.”
